a day at the races

















the wire bending the flagpole is made of flexinol (tm), a metal that schortens drastically when an electrical current is applied. as soon as something passes the infrared sensor (in this case the magic race car) the juice is flowing and the flag waves. beside the fun it is interesting to think about the uses of such activators that don't have mechanical or motor components: the imagined machines are lighter, silent, more elegant and need only electricity. i'm looking forward to see what's further in store for us in that seminar...
